There are some basic skills every mountain biker should know to keep their bike up and running smoothly. We aren’t talking about fork rebuilds here…just derailleur adjustments, brake adjustments and other routine maintenance tasks to make sure you do not have to spend unnecessary funds on too many bike repairs.

Whether you're looking for a half day on the bike, a full day in the saddle or some 1-2-1 Guiding then I cover all bases!
Beginner? Intermediate? Expert? Trail centres? Off piste enduro / downhill? A combo of the two or all three? Or, an all day epic on natural trails? I can design a day on the bike that you'll love!
After a quick consultation about your needs and skills, i'll design a fully personalised itinerary hitting up the best riding, cheekiest of banter and the tastiest coffee, cake & lunch stops in the region.
A half day guided ride starts with a coffee and chat about the day ahead at a local hot spot. Then off we pop to rip up the local trails on a personalised ride.
Post ride lunch optional but best banter compulsory.
Here's a taste of some of the areas you could ride!

GlentressGlentress Forest is a mountain biking Mecca deep in the heart of the stunning Tweed Valley. The biking experience here includes Green, Blue, Red or Black graded trails, as well as a magnificent multi-graded free-ride area.
InnerleithenThe downhill trails at Innerleithen are regarded as some of the best in the UK (and beyond). A long and rich history of trail building has resulted in a rabbit warren of ‘natural’ and machine-built trails that drop steeply through the forest from the summit of Plora Rig.
Four way-marked routes, with loads of options throughout with trails suitable for everyone, beginners and pro’s alike, Innerleithen is a downhill rider’s paradise.
CademuirThere are several forests in the Tweed Valley but Cademuir has some of the best mountain biking trails. There is really something for everyone in this forest and the surrounding area. From breathtaking natural trails to peaceful fire roads Cademuir has it all. There is a network of trails to follow allowing you to explore this little gem of a forest.
Gypsy GlenGypsy Glen has a totally different character to all the man made trail centre stuff at Glentress. It is very much a natural unmarked ride which can be muddy in sections, but the climb is really worth it for the descent from the top sweeping down into Peebles. A real old school natural epic XC trail.
Cheviot HillsA day biking in the Cheviots can only be described as ultra epic. A real old school XC ride which really can only be done on a full day riding. Not for the faint hearted with some super tough climbs and some smile inducing descents!
At RubbersideDown MTB we offer tailor made guided trips in the Scottish Borders.
From natural XC trails to Trail Centres, steep off piste to Downhill!
Skills coaching is also available for beginners to intermediate riders in groups or one a one to one basis. Sessions can be stand alone or fitted in as part of your guided trip.
Also, why not get your bike valeted and looking good for hitting the trails or road!
